SMELL BEFORE YOU BUY
Au client ’If Only’ have launched an ‘aroma brochure’ which it believes will help travel agents
sell its five-star holidays through the sense of smell.
The MD of ‘If Only’, Brendan Maguire told TTG (Travel Trade Gazette) he believes the
scented brochures will transport customers from the travel agency to the faraway shores
of some of the most exotic and luxurious destinations in the world.
Au’s Account Executive for ’If Only’, Matt McHale, agrees with Brendan saying “It was a
breath of fresh air at Birkenhead last week when we took receipt of the new ’If Only’ aroma
brochures".
This 300 page luxury brochure not only boasts some of the worlds premier resorts but with its
sandalwood scented pages ‘If Only’ hope to ’rekindle travellers memories of past overseas
ventures and provide inspiration to indulge in one of their many wonderful bespoke holidays’.
The brochure was launched to a selection of specialist agents earlier this week and will be available
on-line at www.trade-gate.co.uk shortly. We are sure agents will welcome not only this premier
brochure but also the same exotic aromas as experienced in the Au warehouse!”

New BP and Au e-Newsletter aims to win additional business
Next week the first edition of a new monthly e-newsletter will hit the in-boxes of approximately 2,500 BP &
Au clients and potential clients throughout the travel industry. Called Travel Dialogue it will contain
introductions on a mix of topics, usually 6 - 8 per edition, from which the recipients can click through to the
new Travel Dialogue website to view the full text of those of interest to them.
The content will provide tips on how to make more effective use of BP and Au’s products, introduce new
services, highlight availability and comment on relevant issues. Articles from Guest Writers will also be
feature.
The Travel Dialogue e-newsletter will also include league tables (combining BP and Au stats) of the
brochures most ordered by agents during the previous month. One ‘chart’ covers all outlets and titles,
including the brochures and branches of the Top Two (Thomson/First Choice and Thomas Cook/Going
Places); the second will exclude the brochures and branches of the Top Two. There will also be league tables
for cruise brochures.
Hopefully tour operators will want to improve their position in these ‘charts’ so will promote their
brochures to increase travel agent orders. These league tables will also be sent to agents each month via
Trade-Gate e-news to show which brochures are ‘hot’ and prompt them to order.
The www.traveldialogue.co.uk website will link to (and from) the Au and BP websites
and feature the current articles and a searchable archive of past items.
Readers will be able to comment on the articles and the most recent comments
will be highlighted on the home page - the aim is to increase our
engagement with travel marketeers (or marketers as the Institute of Marketing
terms them). Viewers can also sign up for the monthly e-newsletter.
The site will include constantly updated news feeds from TTG, Travel Weekly and the BBC (just like our
www.trade-gate.co.uk travel agent portal) plus the Reuters business news ticker, creating a one-stop
comprehensive news reference point, under the BP and Au banner, for people in the travel industry.

OMSG AROUND THE COUNTRY
The map below shows the nine locations and eight companies or divisions which make up the Orbital
Marketing Services Group.
Back in 1995 the Head Office moved from its location in Folkestone (the most southerly location on
the map) to Ashford, with our most recent acquisition - Au Logistics at Birkenhead (who joined
OMSG in December 2008), being the most northerly location on the map.
The Group, which began trading in 1972 as BP Direct Mail with 25 full and part-time staff, now
directly employs around 475 people.
